Trego Community High School Biology Students Learn on New Microscopes

USD 208's High School Biology lab received a much needed upgrade with a grant to update the microscope technology for its Life Science program. Prior equipment was approximately 30 years old and students were not able to make accurate observations.

A $3,209.00 grant from the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund for Trego County provided the classroom with 10 new microscopes, microscope lens adaptors, and slide sets.

"Students in my advanced Biology and Biotechnology courses really benefitted by being able to learn and use lab-grade microscopes and the ability to see bacteria and other small structures that were not visible using our previous microscopes," said James Burk, Biology teacher. "My students, a fellow science teacher, and I greatly appreciate the opportunity that this grant has provided!"
