Heartland Community Foundation awards over $30,000 in Trego County

HAYS, Kan.—The Heartland Community Foundation, which serves Ellis, Rooks and Trego Counties, recently awarded over $110,000 in spring grants to area organizations across the three counties.

In Trego County, funds were distributed to the following organizations:

  • USD 208, $2,308.08 for the purchase of 4 Choral Riser Backrails.
  • USD 208, $2,340 to purchase 5 Yamaha Guitar bundles, 5 Kola Ukulele bundles, and 5 Gator Guitar Gig bags.
  • American Legion Moore Post 197, $5,000 for the cost of the furnace and installation.
  • Trego County – Lemke Memorial Hospital, $10,000 towards the Scout House Renovation with the WaKeeney Lions Club to bring the building up to code.
  • Trego County Historical Society, $2,772 to purchase an audio and video program package.
  • Heritage of Our Forefathers, $5,000 to pay for the removal and replacement of flooring in the entry way of St. Michael’s Church.
  • Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation, $2,827 for the purchase of mounted wall fans and portable raised vegetable garden.

This round of grants was made possible by the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which focuses on improving quality of life throughout the county; the Ellis County, Rooks County, and Trego County Legacy Funds; the Heartland Area Action Fund; the Stockton Community Fund; and the Kansas Health Foundation Fund for Heartland Community.
