Your Gifts are “Twice as Nice” in February!

Monday, February 12th, 2018

Ellis, Rooks and Trego Counties could each earn up to $50,000 for charitable grants in the community through county-wide gift matching campaigns.

In February, the Dane G. Hansen Foundation will match all public gifts to the Ellis County Fund, Rooks County Fund and Trego County Fund at the Heartland Community Foundation, up to a total of $50,000 per fund. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar, at a maximum of $5,000 per donor.

“We are very grateful to the Dane G. Hansen Foundation for their continued support of Heartland Community Foundation and the counties we serve,” said Sandy Jacobs, executive director. “By donating to the Twice as Nice campaign in February, contributions to the county’s grant-making endowment will double in size. This generosity will certainly have a significant impact, both now and for many years to come. No donation is too small.”

In 2017, the community foundation partnered with the Hansen Foundation to fund many projects, including:

  • Ellis County: interactive dialogue technology at Breathe Coffee House, updates to the Hays Community Theatre, and a fitness trail through the Kiwanis Club of Hays.
  • Rooks County: new protective gear for the Plainville Fire Department, the Tinkering Tigers program at Stockton Grade School and food to stock the Plainville Food Pantry.
  • Trego County: food for Trego kids through the Trego Food Pantry, a mobile outreach program through Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas, and the replacement of old refrigerators in an elderly housing facility through the WaKeeney Housing Authority.
