Plainville High School Hosts RoCo Prep for Success

Monday, September 24th, 2018

Plainville High School is excited to host RoCo Prep for Success, an ACT preparatory workshop for students and professional development for staff members in an effort to increase ACT test scores for college-bound students. Due to a generous grant from Heartland Community Foundation, this opportunity will be provided for not only Plainville High School, but also students and staff from Stockton High School and Palco High School.

During the morning of September 13, a four-hour workshop was held at Plainville High School for teachers of Language Arts, Math, and Science from Plainville, Stockton, and Palco High Schools. The focus of this workshop provided teachers information and knowledge for implementing ACT preparatory strategies into their daily classroom instruction.

Plainville, Stockton, and Palco High School sophomores, juniors, and seniors will then have the opportunity to participate in a five-hour workshop January 9 or 10, hosted by Plainville High School. Both the teacher and student workshops will be conducted by Carolyn Devane of PowerPrep, Inc. The student workshop will provide students with practical test-taking strategies and insight into test questions and content. Students will be given their own copy of the Official ACT Prep Guide to continue their preparation.

The RoCo Prep for Success is a great opportunity for area students and staff. The school district hopes the additional training provided through this grant will help students increase their ACT scores. The staff and administration of Plainville Public Schools are grateful to the Heartland Community Foundation for their contribution to our local students’ future success.
