Gifts to the community foundation are ‘twice as nice’ in February

Ellis, Rooks and Trego counties could each earn an additional $50,000 for charitable grants in the community through the Heartland Community Foundation’s “Twice as Nice” gift matching campaign.

In February, the Dane G. Hansen Foundation will match all public gifts to each county’s Legacy Fund at the Heartland Community Foundation, up to $50,000 per fund. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. If the $50,000 goal is met this year, each fund will gain a total of $100,000.

Over the past two years, the “Twice as Nice” campaign has raised over $900,000 for the three Legacy Funds, which to date have granted $30,212 to charitable projects across the counties of Rooks, Trego and Ellis.

“We are so grateful to the Heartland Community Foundation for its continued support of the Hays ARC Park, which will provide new and accessible play equipment to children of all abilities,” said Sarah Meitner, Board President at The Arc of Central Plains. “Contributions to the Foundation support organizations like ours and many other worthy projects right here in our community. You can double your contribution in February during the foundation’s Twice as Nice event, which doubles the impact of your gift.”

“As a hospital family we applaud the efforts of the Heartland Community Foundation and recognize the importance of giving during the Twice as Nice campaign. Not only are all donations doubled, those same donations stay in Rooks County and have been used for many essential services and funded critical equipment here at RCH. I encourage everyone to donate, just like many of our hospital employees do during February’s Twice as Nice Campaign, big or small, they all matter with double the impact!” stated Frank Rajewski, CFO Rooks County Health Center.

“I believe we are extremely fortunate to have the Heartland Community Foundation in our county. Because of the grants we have received from the Foundation, TCLMH has been able to purchase much needed equipment and offer community services that would not have been possible without their grant monies. The Foundation receives dollar for dollar matching funds for all the money raised during their Twice as Nice campaign, which starts in February. The benefit for our county is that all the money raised and matched, during February, in Trego County stays in Trego County. I encourage residents to donate to this campaign during February because of the “double your money” impact their donation has for our community.” Dave Augustine, CEO, Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital.
